本校理學院成立於1955年，至今已逾六十年，目前有生命科學專業學院，數學系、物理學系、化學系、地球科學系、資訊工程學系5個系（均含學士、碩士及博士課程），及科學教育研究所、環境教育研究所及海洋環境研究所3個獨立研究所。生命科學院下含生命科學系、營養科學學士學位學程、營養科學碩士學位學程、生技醫藥產業碩士學位學程及生物多樣性國際研究生博士學位學程。理學院專任師資176位，大學部學生1527位，研究生1024位，博士後研究員23人。2018年共獲得科技部計畫155件，總金額達2億1千萬元；非科技部計畫62件，金額達1億1千萬元；近3年，也獲得科技部雙邊國際合作計畫17件，充份展現國際合作研究能量。
